Multidisciplinary design studio blending artistry with technical precision to create lighting that transforms the space.
BOCCI
Bocci is a design and manufacturing company dedicated to creating sculptural lighting pushing the boundaries of design through experimentation, and research. Founded in 2005 and based in Vancouver, Bocci operates as a hands-on, experimental studio that explores novel production methods, allowing materials to respond according to their inherent properties, unveiling the hidden potentials within glass, metal, concrete, fire, and electricity.
01. Bocci
Bocci was founded by designer Omer Arbel as a place where lighting, sculpture, and industrial design could intersect. From its earliest days, the company has focused on an experimental approach—rooted in material research and an openness to chance discoveries. This philosophy has led to a distinctive collection of lighting works, each evolving from an in-depth exploration of glass, metal, and other materials. The company operates its own glassblowing studio, allowing for complete creative and technical control over its designs.
02. History
Bocci’s lighting collections are known for their organic forms, tactile materiality, and innovative fabrication techniques. The 14 series, a low-voltage pendant system, was the company’s first project and remains an iconic design. Other key works include the 100 series, where molten glass is blown into loose fabric to create unpredictable forms, and the 73 series, where glass is folded and draped like fabric. Each piece is handcrafted, ensuring no two are exactly alike. Bocci continues to expand its design language, developing new techniques that push the boundaries of traditional lighting.
