01. Edra
Since 1987, Edra has pushed the boundaries of what furniture can be. Every piece represents both an experiment and a statement—where comfort is redefined, form is challenged, and innovation consistently leads to the unexpected.
Edra creates pieces for collectors, design enthusiasts, and anyone who believes their home should reflect their individual vision. Beyond aesthetics, Edra places strong emphasis on research and engineering, ensuring that each product is as functional and enduring as it is visually striking.
Founded in 1987 in Perignano, Tuscany, Edra was born when siblings Valerio and Monica Mazzei — second-generation furniture makers — decided to transform the family business into something unprecedented. The name itself is a contraction of Esedra, the Greek and Roman semicircular gathering space designed for conversation — a fitting reference for a company that treats furniture as an invitation to inhabit space differently.
Under the creative guidance of art director Massimo Morozzi Edra debuted with I Nuovissimi, a collection shown at Milan's Marconi gallery in 1987. From the start, Edra chose to collaborate with visionary designers: Zaha Hadid completed her first industrial furniture collection for Edra in 1988. The Campana Brothers, Masanori Umeda, and Francesco Binfaré — who joined in 1992 and has since become Edra's most defining creative voice — followed.
Today, Edra remains family-owned and headquartered in Perignano, where every piece is designed and manufactured. The company's approach is closer to a Renaissance workshop than a factory — combining advanced material research with high-level handcraft, producing quality over quantity, and treating each piece as a lasting work.

Iconic Seating
On the Rocks by Francesco Binfaré transforms Gellyfoam® into geological forms — four independent geometric seats with freestanding backrests that look like rock formations but offer cloud-like comfort. Standard by Binfaré revolutionized modular seating with the patented Smart Cushion — an aviation-inspired internal mechanism that lets backrests and armrests be shaped by hand into any position, and stay there. Grande Soffice creates an enveloping embrace through oversized proportions, Gellyfoam® padding and generous goose down, with Smart Cushion backrests for personalized comfort. Pack evokes a surreal polar landscape — an ice-slab base with a reclining bear as backrest, upholstered in ecological fur over Gellyfoam®. Vermelha, the Campana Brothers' woven cotton cord chair, became an instant design classic when introduced in the 1990s and now sits in MoMA's permanent collection.
Artistic Furniture
Beyond seating, Edra creates tables, beds, and accessories that function as sculptural objects. Gina and Ella chairs by Jacopo Foggini are handcrafted from polycarbonate — shaped by hand rather than mold, producing one-of-a-kind translucent forms. Getsuen and Rose by Masanori Umeda bring flower-inspired sculpture to seating. The collection extends to beds (Stand by Me with Smart Cushion headboard), tables (Brasilia by the Campana Brothers, Cicladi by Foggini), and cabinets — each carrying the same commitment to material innovation and sculptural presence.
